Basketball Game Preview: Denison Yellow Jackets vs. Lovejoy Leopards

Denison is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Lovejoy is on a nine-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Denison Yellow Jackets will host the Lovejoy Leopards at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Denison knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Lovejoy likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Denison came up short against Walnut Grove and fell 68-55. While losing is never fun, the Yellow Jackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 176th, while the Wildcats are ranked 48th).

Meanwhile, Lovejoy didn't have too much trouble with Anna on Friday as they won 50-35.

Lovejoy is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 27-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.1 points over those games. As for Denison, their loss dropped their record down to 22-8.

Things could have been worse for Denison, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 56-41 loss to Lovejoy in their previous matchup back in January.
