Volleyball Recap: Marist Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games + How To Watch

Marist not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since October 22, 2024 (when they won 3-0). They blew past the Pope Greyhounds 3-0. The War Eagles were shut out 3-0 the last time they took on the Greyhounds, so the War Eagles were just returning the favor.

The win didn't come easy: Pope scored at least 18 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-23, 26-24, 25-18.

Marist found their leader in freshman Sawyer Straley, who had 20 digs and two aces. Those 20 digs set a new season-high mark for Straley.

Wynnie Abney and Kenzie Colombo certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Abney had 22 digs and two assists, while Colombo had six digs and two aces. Abney is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 14 or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Marist is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Pope, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 14-4 record.

Looking ahead, Marist will challenge Johns Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Pope, they will take on River Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The game will give the Greyhounds their first taste of in-conference action this season.
