Soccer Game Preview: Celina vs. Poteet

The Celina Bobcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Poteet Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Celina is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last 17 games.

It was a proper cat-fight when Celina challenged Panther Creek on Saturday. Everything went Celina's way against Panther Creek as Celina made off with a 5-1 victory. Considering the Bobcats have won 17 contests by more than two goals this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Taylor McMillan and Ryleigh Stifflemire scored all five of Celina's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 37 goals.

Despite a strong season so far, Poteet has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Adams. One thing that didn't help the Pirates' chances was the red card they were dealt courtesy of Ysmari Ortiz.

Celina pushed their record up to 20-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 54 goals over those seven games. As for Poteet, their loss dropped their record down to 13-3-3.

Celina might still be hurting after the 5-0 defeat they got from Poteet in their previous matchup back in January of 2017. Can Celina avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
