Volleyball Recap: Payson Falls Despite Big Games from Allie Mangum and Brynley Nielson

Payson came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Timpview Thunderbirds, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Thunderbirds this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

While Payson was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Timpview's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-16, 25-23.

Payson's loss came despite strong showings from Brynley Nielson and Allie Mangum. Nielson had ten digs, while Mangum had five digs and three aces. Nielson has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last five times she's played.

Payson's defeat dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Timpview, their record is now 11-9.

Payson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Pleasant Grove on the 7th. As for Timpview, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against American Fork on the 3rd.
