Football Recap: Hilmar Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Hilmar dropped to 4-3 on Friday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They and the Sonora Wildcats were almost perfectly matched up, but the Yellowjackets suffered a 22-21 defeat. If the Yellowjackets were looking for revenge after losing 45-28 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Hilmar's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Adam Branco, who rushed for 32 yards and three TDs. Nathan Ayala also helped out with an impressive 87 receiving yards.

As for Sonora, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.9 points over those games.

Sonora's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Steven Morfoot, who picked up 67 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 52 yards on only five carries. Morfoot's longest reception was for an impressive 69 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per catch total. Cash Byington was another key player, rushing for 55 yards and one score.

Coming up, Hilmar will face off against Orestimba at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Yellowjackets will be up against the Warriors' rather soft defense (which has allowed 32 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Sonora, they will take on Hughson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
