The Windthorst Trojans had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 45 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They won a match that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Archer City 28-27. That's another feather in the cap for Windthorst, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Brock Belcher continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 156 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 201 yards and two touchdowns. Windthorst also got help from Brayden Berend who showed off his sure hands for 83 receiving yards.
When it comes to explaining why Archer City lost, one person who can't be blamed is Laine Hall. Despite the final result, he rushed for 201 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.6 yards per carry. Chance Warren was another key contributor, picking up 45 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Windthorst has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Archer City, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-4.
Windthorst will take on Seymour at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Seymour has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 214 points over their last four contests. As for Archer City, they will head out on the road to face off against Petrolia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Petrolia and Archer City are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads.
