North Branford has gone a perfect 10-0 against East Hampton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Thunderbirds will welcome the Bellringers at 3:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Saturday.
East Hampton will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: North Branford extended their winning streak to five on Wednesday. The Thunderbirds' pitcher stepped up to hand East Haven a 9-0 shutout. The Thunderbirds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Lauren Vitarisi was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adriana Hills, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Christina Aneiro, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one double.
North Branford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, East Hampton got the win against Morgan on Friday by a conclusive 16-8. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bellringers.
Shea Gaughran was incredible, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Neha Sidana, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
East Hampton's win bumped their record up to 7-11. As for North Branford, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-1.
North Branford's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's game. The Thunderbirds have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for East Hampton, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will North Branford continue to outrun the ball?
North Branford was able to grind out a solid win over East Hampton in their previous matchup on Monday, winning 9-4. Do the Thunderbirds have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bellringers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
