Soccer Game Preview: University City vs. Festus

University City is 0-3 against Festus since March of 2018 but things could change on Monday. The Lions will take on the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. University City has given up an average of 5.7 goals per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Friday just wasn't the day for University City's offense. They came up short against Collegiate Medicine & Bioscience on Friday, falling 6-0. While losing is never fun, University City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri soccer rankings (they are ranked 220th, while Collegiate Medicine & Bioscience are ranked 86th).

Meanwhile, Festus waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Hawks get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. Considering Festus have won ten games by more than two goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Festus pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those three matches. As for University City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-14.

University City might still be hurting after the 5-0 loss they got from Festus in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
