Top-ranked Omaha Westside hits the road for No. 1 vs. No. 2 clash in the Cornhusker State

This weekend's Nebraska high school football schedule is headlined by No. 1 Omaha Westside taking its 14-game win streak on the road to clash with No. 2 Millard South (Omaha) in what may be a preview of the Class A state championship game.

The defending state champion Warriors average almost 51 points a game behind the play of seniors Anthony Rezac, Caleb Benning and Jahmez Ross as well as junior Keynan Cotton. Benning, Notre Dame commit Teddy Rezac and four-star linebacker Christian Jones headline a defense that has given up just 26 points in 2023.

Millard South counters with its youth movement. Head coach Ty Wisdom's offense averages almost 39 points a contest thanks in large part to the talents of sophomores Jett Thomalla, Gabriel Prucha, Amarion Jackson and Isaac Jensen. J.R. Lecuona and Aidan Miller lead a stop unit that gives up just over 13 points a game.

Other clashes between top 25 clubs have No. 6 Ashland-Greenwood (Ashland) going to No. 24 Roncalli Catholic (Omaha) in a battle of 6-1 squads and No. 25 Ord hitting the road to face No. 21 Broken Bow.
