Baseball Recap: Marceline Drops Highest Score of Season Against Knox County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Marceline). They blew past the Knox County Eagles 13-1 on Monday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Tigers with their most commanding win of the season.

Cody Rodgers and Dax Thomas made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Rodgers pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Meanwhile, Thomas tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Rodgers went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Thomas went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Marceline is undefeated when Thomas posts two or more runs, but 6-14-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, Gage Teeter and Harrison Green did most of the damage at the plate: Teeter went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Green went 1-for-2 with three runs and two RBI. Those three hits gave Teeter a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Thomas, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Marceline always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Marceline's win bumped their record up to 10-14-1. As for Knox County, they dropped their record down to 2-17 with the defeat, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Marceline does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Knox County, they will take on La Plata at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
