Moreno Valley has gone a perfect 3-0 against Miller recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Moreno Valley Vikings will challenge the Miller Rebels at 1:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Moreno Valley's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They blew past Rim of the World 11-0. The high-scoring effort was just what the Vikings needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
The result came thanks to E. Alferez's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024.
At the plate, C. Logan and JJ Vazquez did most of the damage at the plate: Logan went 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Vazquez scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-5. I. Orozco was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances.
They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Moreno Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Miller not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 11, 2024. Everything went their way against Fontana as Miller made off with an 8-0 win. The Rebels haven't had any issues with the Steelers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Liam Good was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Miller is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-3 otherwise. Good was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Nathan Lora was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Miller's record now sits at 3-4. As for Moreno Valley, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Everything went Moreno Valley's way against Miller when the teams last played back in March of 2022, as Moreno Valley made off with a 15-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Moreno Valley since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
