Football Game Preview: St. Michael-Albertville Knights vs. Maple Grove Crimson

The St. Michael-Albertville Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Maple Grove Crimson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Michael-Albertville has given up an average of 30.8 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

St. Michael-Albertville is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Edina on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Knights came up short against the Hornets, falling 42-21. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota football rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Hornets are ranked 27th).

Although St. Michael-Albertville took the loss, they still got scores from Wyatt Mosher, Luke Sumstad, and Elijah Lewis.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Maple Grove). They took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 56-14 win over Moorhead. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

St. Michael-Albertville's loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Maple Grove, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.

St. Michael-Albertville took a serious blow against Maple Grove in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 56-7. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
