New Palestine proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by three) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Covenant Christian Warriors. The win was familiar territory for the Dragons, who have now won three matchups in a row.
New Palestine wouldn't go down easily and took Covenant Christian into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The match finished with set scores of 26-28, 25-19, 25-19, 22-25, 17-15.
Dawson Lawless paced New Palestine's offense, picking up 15 kills. Lawless got some help from Kameron Engle and his 41 assists. Eli Greene controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
New Palestine's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Covenant Christian, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-2.
