Recap: Stargate School Eagles vs. Regis Groff Fusion
In what's become a running theme this season, the Stargate School Eagles gave their fans yet another huge win on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Regis Groff 73-40 on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 41-20.
Dylan Perkins continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 16 points along with two steals. He hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Reed Schoenfeld was another key contributor, scoring a point along with 11 assists and five steals.
Regis Groff's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mahmoud Ibrahim, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt McCoy-Vera, who scored seven points.
Regis Groff struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Stargate School has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Regis Groff, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stargate School will take on Colorado Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Colorado Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 back in December of 2023. As for Regis Groff, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Hinkley at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Hinkley is ranked 257th, while Regis Groff is ranked 282nd).
