Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is West Jordan's Tenth in Last 11 Outings

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only West Jordan walked away with it. They were the clear victor by a 59-38 margin over the Kearns Cougars on Tuesday. The Jaguars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 21 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Marlee Reupena, who went 8-for-17 on her way to 22 points along with eight assists and four steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 17 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Giselle Muffett, who went 5-for-11 to rack up 11 points in addition to seven assists and seven rebounds.

Reupena wasn't the only one working in the assist department: West Jordan was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kearns only eight assists.

Kearns' loss came despite strong showings from Lia Benson and Lindsey Tafili. Benson posted 15 points along with eight boards and four steals, while Tafili had ten points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave Tafili a new career-high in points.

West Jordan is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.5 points over those games. Kearns is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-14.

West Jordan didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-32 defeat against Timpview on the 20th. Kearns does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
