Softball Game Preview: Interlake Saints vs. Foster Bulldogs

The Interlake Saints will face off against the Foster Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Interlake's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Foster has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Interlake had been on a six-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Kennedy Catholic put an end to it on Thursday. The Saints came up short against the Lancers, falling 18-2.

Interlake saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vedika Jagtap, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Foster hadn't done well against Lindbergh recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Bulldogs walked away with an 18-15 victory over the Eagles.

Violeta Sanchez was a standout: she scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ivy Glanville, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Foster always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .615 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Foster's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-6. As for Interlake, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.

Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Interlake has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .489. However, it's not like Foster struggles in that department as they've averaged .559. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
