Makayla Stone spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Fort Wayne Snider saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ameera Kummer, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Warsaw). Everything went their way against New Haven on Friday as they made off with a 14-3 victory. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Addyson Sainer was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those hits marked the first that she has got this season. Another player making a difference was Mia Rodriguez, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Warsaw was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
Warsaw's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Fort Wayne Snider, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
Fort Wayne Snider took their win against Warsaw when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-5 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
