Recap: Kingwood Mustangs vs. Summer Creek Bulldogs
The Kingwood Mustangs lost against the Summer Creek Bulldogs back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Kingwood's rough 27-7 loss to Summer Creek might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Kingwood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 386th, while Summer Creek is ranked 16th).
Despite the loss, Kingwood saw an underclassman step up: Stone Singletary picked up 126 receiving yards and a touchdown. Singletary's longest reception was for an incredible 83 yards.
Lloyd Avant was his usual excellent self, rushing for 119 yards and two touchdowns. Avant is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last four games he's played.
Kingwood has traveled a rocky road this season, as they've lost six of their first seven contests, which gives them a 1-6 record this season. As for Summer Creek, their win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-1.
Kingwood will take on West Brook at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. West Brook comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Summer Creek, they will head out on the road to face off against Beaumont United at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Beaumont United is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
