Volleyball Recap: Houston Takes a Loss

Houston lost against Rushford-Peterson back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Hurricanes took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans. While the Hurricanes didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Trojans 25-14 in the first set.

Houston started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 14-25, 25-10, 25-13, 25-15.

When it comes to explaining why Houston lost, don't look at Olivia Yohe. Despite the final result, she had seven digs and two aces. Emmie Melbo was another key player, getting 21 digs and two aces.

Among those leading the charge was McKenna Smith, who had eight digs. Those eight digs gave her a new career-high.

Houston's loss dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Rushford-Peterson, their win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2.

Houston wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Spring Grove on the 7th. As for Rushford-Peterson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Plainview-Elgin-Millville on the 7th.
