            Baseball Preview: Mayfield Cardinals vs. Graves County Eagles        
        
		
        
        
            Mayfield hasn't had much luck against Graves County recently, but that could start to change  on Thursday. The Cardinals will look to defend their home field  against the Eagles  at 5:30  p.m. Mayfield has given up an average of 9.5  runs per game this season, but Thursday's  game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Mayfield lost  14-3 to Ballard Memorial on Tuesday. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
 Carson Price put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound,   pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Price was also big at the plate,  scoring a  run while going 2-for-3. He also put up two  doubles, which were his first of the season.
 In other batting news,  Kyler Simpson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and  scored two  runs while going 2-for-3. He also  hit a  double, marking his first of the season.
 Meanwhile, Graves County entered their tilt with Carlisle County on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Comets 11-1. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most  runs they've scored all season.
 Graves County pushed their record up to 3-3 with the  victory, which was their 14th straight  at home dating back to last season. Those  home  wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for Mayfield, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
