Volleyball Recap: Mesa Takes a Loss

Mesa lost against Westwood last Saturday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Jackrabbits took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors.

Mesa started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-13, 25-22, 25-19.

Westwood was led to victory by Ricardo Alvarado and Jack Carpenter. Alvarado had 12 digs and three assists, while Carpenter had five digs, three aces, and one block. That's the most aces Carpenter has posted over his last two matches.

Mesa's defeat dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Westwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

Mesa will be playing at home against O'Connor at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Westwood, they will host Dobson at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
