Softball Recap: Westview's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Westview had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 16-1 margin over the Chula Vista Spartans. With that win, the Wolverines brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Sarah Deng was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two triples. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aleya Colon, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Westview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .520. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Westview's record now sits at 5-3. As for Chula Vista, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Coincidentally, Westview and Chula Vista will both be playing University City the next time they take the field. Chula Vista will head out to face University City at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, while Westview will play them later in the day, at 1:15 p.m.
