Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Ava Johnson and Lexi Longhurst Lead Mountain Home to Victory

Mountain Home lost to Twin Falls back in January of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Mountain Home Tigers walked away with a 56-47 victory over the Twin Falls Bruins. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Bruins are ranked 77th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mountain Home was led to victory by Lexi Longhurst and Ava Johnson. Longhurst posted 15 points and four steals, while Johnson scored ten points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave Johnson a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Kloey Borgen, who had ten points.

Mountain Home smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive games.

Mountain Home's win bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Twin Falls, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

Mountain Home wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 53-43 victory against Burley on the 16th. Twin Falls has also already played their next game, a 44-38 loss against Jerome on the 16th.
