For the first time this season, Carlmont will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Thursday. They will take on the Aragon Dons at 6:30 p.m. Carlmont is looking for their season's first victory.
Things were looking good for Carlmont after they put the first points on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 13-8 to Archbishop Mitty. One positive for the Scots, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Molly Brand was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Wilson, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.
Brand wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Carlmont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Aragon made easy work of Mercy on Tuesday and carried off a 12-1 win.
Makayla Hafoka looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.
At the plate, Destiny Garcia was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Olivia Mukherjee, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Aragon has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. Carlmont's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
Everything went Carlmont's way against Aragon in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Carlmont made off with an 11-1 victory.
