Baseball Recap: Loretto Sets Scoring Season-High Against Coffee County Central

Loretto was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Coffee County Central Red Raiders. One positive for the Mustangs, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Ralee Ellis made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Lucas Laxson also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Loretto's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Coffee County Central, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Loretto will challenge Central at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Coffee County Central, they will take on Central Magnet at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Coffee County Central's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Central Magnet's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
