Baseball Recap: Hemlock Comes Up Short

Hemlock dropped down to 5-2 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Ithaca Yellowjackets by a score of 5-4. The Huskies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Yellowjackets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

As for Ithaca, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games.

For Ithaca's part, Brady Paradise made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Paradise was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.

In other batting news, Connor McMurphy was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Ithaca's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Carsen Shankel was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Ithaca beat Hemlock by a score of 1-0 later that day.
