AAA Region 2 recap October 1, 2013
Jackson's De'Eric Bell recorded the longest rushing play in AAA Region 2 this season in his game against Southwest last week. Bell ran for 75 yards on the play and finished with 148 on the day as his team bested the Patriots.
Henry County moved up to 329 from 375 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Warhawks climbed the ranks as a result of beating Central 27-26.
Delvin Andrews was a key player and the best on defense this week as Southwest lost to Jackson. The 6-foot-0 junior.
Bell was the best running back in the league this week. In 15 carries, he ran for 148 yards as Dary Myricks' team lost to Dary Myricks' team. Ira Sheppard also contributed to the rushing game with 55 yards on the ground.
Leading AAA Region 2 in both passing and receiving yards, Peach County's Greg Williams and Tyler Gibson have proven to be a lethal combination. Williams has thrown for 942 yards this season, while Gibson has 24 catches for 456 yards. Bell from the Red Devils leads the league in rushing with 257 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Henry County takes on the Trojans. As it stands, Joseph Dupree's team is in fifth, while Peach County is in second.
The Patriots fell to Jackson 41-19 last week, the largest margin of any game. Tyree White threw for 74 yards and ran for 27 yards in the loss.
