Softball Recap: Vel Phillips Memorial Comes Up Short

Vel Phillips Memorial couldn't beat Waunakee on Friday even though they stacked seven runs on them in the fourth inning. The Spartans lost 14-7 to the Warriors. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Vel Phillips Memorial saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addie Fritts, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Vel Phillips Memorial now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Waunakee, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-12.

Looking ahead, Vel Phillips Memorial will host Madison West at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Waunakee, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 1-0 loss against Reedsburg on the 17th.
