The Kennedy Titans will head out on the road to challenge the Mission San Jose Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kennedy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Kennedy will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Irvington on Thursday. The Titans never let the Vikings get on the board and left with a 16-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Titans in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won five in a row.
Madelyn Montague was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Hannah Cornell was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Eva Caldera, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Kennedy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Irvington only posted an OBP of .067.
Meanwhile, Mission San Jose scored the most runs they've had this season on Thursday, but it wasn't enough. They came up short against American, falling 16-6. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Anjali Singh made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Kaushika Kondragunta also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Mission San Jose's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Kennedy, their record now sits at 8-6.
Kennedy was able to grind out a solid win over Mission San Jose in their previous matchup back in April, winning 4-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
