Recap: Highlands Owls vs. Sam Houston Hurricanes
The Highlands Owls were the 41-21 winner over the Sam Houston Hurricanes when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Highlands was outmatched by Sam Houston on the road and fell 55-7. Highlands has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Leading Sam Houston to victory were Jeremiah Espitia and Jaeden Servantez. Espitia gained 92 total yards and two touchdowns, while Servantez rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Espitia really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run. Lebron Delane got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Highlands' defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Sam Houston, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.
Highlands will be playing in front of their home fans against Brackenridge on Friday. Brackenridge is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Sam Houston, they will head out on the road to face off against Alamo Heights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Alamo Heights is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
