Baseball Recap: Carlsbad Lancers vs. Arlington Heights Yellowjackets

Carlsbad had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victor by an 11-4 margin over the Arlington Heights Yellowjackets. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Lancers have posted since March 26, 2024.

Carlsbad got a great performance from Weston Thornbury as he tossed six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. What's more, Thornbury posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Carlsbad let Ayden Mu?oz and Lucas Johnson run wild. Mu?oz scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Johnson scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1. The dominant performance also gave Johnson a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Tyler Ward, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
