Baseball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Newsome's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Newsome took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Durant, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Newsome narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Durant 4-2. This was a revenge game for the Wolves: when they faced off against the Cougars two weeks ago, they had to take a 11-1 defeat.

JP GLASSFORD spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up nine Ks. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in February.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on ANTHONY DEVITO, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
