Baseball Recap: St. Luke's Wins Going Away Against King

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Taft School, St. Luke was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the King Vikings with a sharp 20-2 victory. That 18 run margin sets a new team best for the Storm this season.

David Carioto looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because St. Luke's is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 1-2 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gage Saresky, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. He is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Pepp Biasotti, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

St. Luke's always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

St. Luke's has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for King, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

St. Luke's will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Vikings: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
