Basketball Game Preview: Millard South Patriots vs. Lincoln North Star Navigators

Millard South has gone 6-1 against Lincoln North Star recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Millard South Patriots are taking a road trip to face off against the Lincoln North Star Navigators at 5:30 p.m. Millard South is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.3 points per game this season.

Millard South is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Benson: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Millard South blew Benson out of the water with a 67-29 final score. With the Patriots ahead 39-16 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Millard South got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Abbi Durow out in front who went 7-for-15 to rack up 21 points. Durow has become a key player for Millard South: the team is 11-3 when she posts at least 15 points, but 3-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Carder, who went 5-for-11 on her way to 14 points.

Meanwhile, Lincoln North Star faced Millard North in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Lincoln North Star was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 45-44 to Millard North.

The win made it two in a row for Millard South and bumps their season record up to 14-8. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.0 points over those games. As for Lincoln North Star, their loss dropped their record down to 15-5.

Millard South lost to Lincoln North Star on the road by a decisive 55-36 margin when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Millard South avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
