Basketball Recap: Iowa City Takes a Loss

If Iowa City was feeling good fresh off their 67-45 takedown of Washington last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Iowa City Little Hawks were outmatched by the Kennedy Cougars and fell 81-42. While losing is never fun, the Little Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while the Cougars are ranked ninth).

Iowa City's loss dropped their record down to 9-25. As for Kennedy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

Looking ahead, Iowa City will face off against Kennedy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kennedy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 matchups -- so hopefully Iowa City likes a good challenge. As for Kennedy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 81-42 victory against Liberty on the 14th.
