The Magnet Cove Panthers will venture away from home to face off against the Mountain Pine Red Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Magnet Cove is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
Magnet Cove lost 10-3 to Parkers Chapel on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Mountain Pine came into Monday's game having lost nine straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over Caddo Hills on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Red Devils have posted since April 10, 2025.
Mark Lusher made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Mountain Pine is 2-1 when Lusher allows two or fewer earned runs, but 0-8 otherwise. Lusher was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Issac Canada, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last four games he's played. Gavin Ventress was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Mountain Pine's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-8 and their overall record up to 2-9. As for Magnet Cove, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.
Magnet Cove suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Mountain Pine when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
