Mattanawcook is 9-1 against Stearns since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Lynx will host the Minutemen at 4:00 p.m. Mattanawcook is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.

Mattanawcook is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Maine's top teams: Bucksport, who was ranked first at the time (Mattanawcook was ranked 23rd). The Lynx took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Bucks on Tuesday. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Lynx were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Stearns had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Pirates as they made off with a 14-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Minutemen, who have now won five contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

Stearns' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Mattanawcook, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-3.

Mattanawcook took their win against Stearns in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 16-1 score. Do the Lynx have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Minutemen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
