The Beaver Beavers will square off against the Emery Spartans at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Beaver sitting on eight straight victories and Emery on three.
On Wednesday, Beaver needed a bit of extra time to put away Gunnison Valley. They skirted past the Bulldogs 7-6.
Beaver got a great performance from Tyge Blomquist as he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Blomquist has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Brandon Benson was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Smith, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Emery won against South Sevier on Thursday with three runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Spartans beat North Sanpete by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Spartans have posted against the Hawks since May 13, 2021.
Trygg Jensen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits.
On the hitting side, Emery saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Easton Stoker, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Beaver's victory bumped their record up to 19-2. As for Emery, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 5-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Beaver has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Emery struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Beaver came out on top in a nail-biter against Emery when the teams last played back in March of 2025, sneaking past 5-4. Will the Beavers repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
