Basketball Game Preview: Leonardtown Raiders vs. Lackey Chargers

Two dominant guards in Landon Windell and Malik Gordon are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Leonardtown Raiders will venture away from home to challenge the Lackey Chargers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Leonardtown sitting on four straight wins and Lackey on 14.

Last Tuesday, Leonardtown was fully in charge, breezing past Calvert 87-33. The Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Lackey on Tuesday. They took down Huntingtown 79-61.

Leonardtown better focus on containing Isaiah Mansaray and Gordon as the pair were huge in Lackey's win. Mansaray went 11-for-17 on his way to 32 points and four steals, while Gordon almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine assists. Gordon is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in each of the last six games he's played. Tyzon Swann was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and 13 rebounds.

Lackey's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points over those games. As for Leonardtown, their win bumped their record up to 17-5.

Things could have been worse for Leonardtown, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 69-54 loss to Lackey in their previous matchup on February 5th. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Mansaray, who went 7-for-12 to rack up 28 points and seven boards.
