Softball Recap: Pewamo-Westphalia Wins Going Away Against St. Patrick

Pewamo-Westphalia had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt St. Patrick on Monday. The Pirates put the hurt on the Shamrocks with a sharp 13-7 win. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Shamrocks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Makayla McRae spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Elyse Thelen was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. She also put up a hit, which was her first of the season. Summer Wirth was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Pewamo-Westphalia now has a winning record of 3-2. As for St. Patrick, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pewamo-Westphalia will venture away from home to take on West Catholic at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for St. Patrick, they will head out to square off against Bath at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
