Basketball Recap: Forest Hill Comes Up Short

Forest Hill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were beaten by the Cardinal Newman Crusaders 65-19. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 594th, while the Crusaders are ranked 282nd).

Leading Cardinal Newman to victory were Ava Castro and Noelle Coyne. Castro dropped a double-double on 13 points and 25 rebounds, while Coyne went 10 of 14 on her way to 24 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Coyne's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Ella Strong was another key player, going 5 for 8 en route to 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Forest Hill's record is now 2-10. As for Cardinal Newman, their record is now 8-11.

Forest Hill didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 86-17 defeat against Suncoast on the 16th. Cardinal Newman has also already played their next game, a 34-29 loss against John Carroll Catholic on the 16th.
