Basketball Recap: Lydia Guisler's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Calvary Baptist over Salt and Light Homeschool

Calvary Baptist was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 41-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Salt and Light Homeschool Eagles. Calvary Baptist was probably out for revenge after losing 58-31 to them when the teams met back in November of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lydia Guisler, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Guisler is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Elena Victoria was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Calvary Baptist smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive matchups.

Calvary Baptist's record is now 8-7. As for Salt and Light Homeschool, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calvary Baptist will face off against St. Joseph Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on January 14th. As for Salt and Light Homeschool, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Emery/Weiner at 7:00 p.m. on January 21st.
