Basketball Game Preview: Lubbock-Cooper Pirates vs. Tascosa Rebels

The Lubbock-Cooper Pirates will head out to square off against the Tascosa Rebels at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Lubbock-Cooper has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Lubbock-Cooper is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by Lubbock to the tune of 74-46 on Tuesday. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 193rd, while the Westerners are ranked 730th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Tascosa came up short against Amarillo on Tuesday and fell 52-41.

Lubbock-Cooper pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points per game. As for Tascosa, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 10-5.

Lubbock-Cooper ended up a good deal behind Tascosa in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, losing 73-56. Can Lubbock-Cooper avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
