Softball Recap: Larimore Polar Bears vs. Thompson Tommies

Larimore couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They wound up on the wrong side of a tough 26-4 walloping at the hands of the Thompson Tommies on Monday. Larimore has not had much luck with Thompson recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.

For Thompson's part, Sydney Schwabe made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Schwabe was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles.

In other batting news, Thompson got a massive performance out of Kya Hurst, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Dru Schwab was another key contributor, going 3-for-4 with five RBI and three runs.

Thompson now has a winning record of 2-1.

Larimore will head out on the road to face off against Midway/Minto at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Thompson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
