Softball Recap: Oxford Takes a Loss

After flying high against Tome last Tuesday, Oxford came back down to earth. The Hornets lost 20-6 to the Downingtown East Cougars on Thursday. If the Hornets were looking for revenge after losing 11-1 to the Cougars when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Alexa Keenan was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Helen Jackson, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI.

Oxford's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Downingtown East, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.

Oxford will challenge Chichester at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hornets are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Downingtown East, they will take on Coatesville at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
