Baseball Recap: Del Campo Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Del Campo ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past the Ponderosa Bruins 6-5. The Cougars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bruins, too.

Logan Smith tossed a big game, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brody Bieneman was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Ramiro Pereda, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Del Campo is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-10-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Ponderosa, their loss was their ninth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-15.

Coincidentally, Del Campo and Ponderosa will both be playing Inderkum the next time they take the field. The Cougars will host the Tigers at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Bruins will head out to face them at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
