Basketball Recap: Ethan Toadvine's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Orangewood Christian over Mount Dora

Orangewood Christian lost against Mount Dora back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Orangewood Christian Rams fell 61-51 to the Mount Dora Hurricanes. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Orangewood Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Toadvine, who posted 17 points. Ryne Ruemler was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Mount Dora found their leader in sophomore Corey Nafield, who went 8 for 14 on his way to 23 points along with five assists and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Daqavious Taylor, who went 8 of 16 en route to 20 points and four steals.

Orangewood Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Mount Dora, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-16.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Lyman the next time they take the court. Orangewood Christian will head out to face Lyman at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, while Mount Dora will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
