Basketball Recap: Calvin Griffin Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Canterbury

On Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, the Foundation Christian Academy Panthers beat the Canterbury Crusaders 65-60. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Foundation Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Calvin Griffin, who posted 19 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The matchup was Griffin's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Hagan, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine boards.

Canterbury's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lou Donnelly, who went 5 of 11 en route to 18 points and four steals. Donnelly continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Roman Wilder, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.

Foundation Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 11-12. As for Canterbury, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-10.

Foundation Christian Academy will challenge Cambridge Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Foundation Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.4 points per game this season. Canterbury has already played their next game (against Lakeside Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
