Basketball Recap: Coastal Christian Takes a Loss

Coastal Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were outmatched by the Cape Fear Academy Hurricanes and fell 65-31. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Centurions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 53-27 last Wednesday.

Despite the defeat, Coastal Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Chase Davenport posted nine points. Those nine points gave Davenport a new career-high.

Cape Fear Academy had a senior duo take command as Domas Undzenas went 6 of 12 en route to 20 points and six rebounds and Isaiah Gibson dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. Undzenas is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Wolf, who had four points and five boards.

Coastal Christian's loss dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Cape Fear Academy, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-11.

Coastal Christian will square off against John Paul II Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cape Fear Academy, they will face off against Arendell Parrott Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Cape Fear Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.7 points per game this season.
