Volleyball Recap: Boone Comes Up Short

Boone lost against University back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Boone Braves lost 3-0 to the University Cougars. The Braves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

While Boone ultimately came up short, they really made University work, particularly in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-19, 27-25.

Kelvin Cruz paced Boone's offense, picking up nine kills. Cruz got some help from Jackson Ayoung-Chee and his 12 assists. Finally, Nolan Renfroe kept Boone's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Boone now has a losing record of 1-2. As for University, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Boone will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Freedom at 6:30 p.m. on March 25th. Freedom will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Boone surely won't give up without a fight. University also won't see the court for a while: their next match is against Lake Nona at 6:30 p.m. on March 25th.
